Individual Therapy

When will I begin to feel better? Will this problem ever go away?
Individual Therapy Offered by Dr. Kimberly D. Robbins, Clinical Psychologist, Westlake Village & Encino, CA
Real change can happen. I take a close-up and personal account of the underlying causes of turmoil, conflict and pain in your life while providing a safe and nurturing environment.  I work with you to establish a strong therapeutic relationship in order to move to a place of safety, healing and wholeness.  Depression, social anxiety, test anxiety, eating disorders, body image issues and obsessive thoughts and feelings can feel overwhelming causing you to feel utterly defeated. Together in counseling we can meet these obstacles head-on and work towards acquiring a new way of living, a new way of being.

Therapy is a collaboration between the individual and the therapist; our shared goal is to facilitate positive change that moves your life towards healing.

Couples Therapy

Can I save my relationship?
Couples Therapy Offered by Dr. Kimberly D. Robbins, Clinical Psychologist, Westlake Village & Encino, CA
Couples counseling has been shown to significantly improve outcomes for couples struggling to find common ground. Communicating openly helps you align differing visions and unite around a shared future.

Couples therapy is an investment in your entire family. Through sessions with both of you in the room, and some on an individual basis, couples therapy explores:
  • The ways in which you, as partners, problem solve and handle conflict
  • How to respect each other’s needs and boundaries while establishing your own
  • Dissatisfaction with communication: sexually, emotionally or spiritually
  • Aligning parenting skills and traits to maximize success
  • Recognizing what you and your partner need from each other to feel loved

Spiritual Concerns

What is the meaning of life?  What is the meaning of my life?
Spiritual Counseling Offered by Dr. Kimberly D. Robbins, Clinical Psychologist, Westlake Village & Encino, CA
We are each on our own unique spiritual journey. Through counseling, I can help you reflect on your philosophical view of life, and your relationship to that which is greater than you. We can examine the areas of your life that may feel empty or seem to be without meaning.

Whether facing hardships, or simply a desire to reach a greater sense of purpose in everyday living, spiritual exploration helps provide us with the emotional building blocks to lead a life with more stability.

Some of the issues explored in spiritual counseling include:
  • The meaning of spirituality, religion and moral values in life
  • Perception of a higher power, a relationship with God
  • How this perception affects a higher search for meaning
  • Differences, conflicts or feelings of loss regarding faith or its teachings
  • Yearning for wholeness
Religion and spirituality can have a profound effect on relationships, self-perception, self-esteem and quality of life. We each deserve to feel spiritually whole.

Life Transitions for Women

What do I do now?  What's next for me?
Women In Transition Counseling Offered by Dr. Kimberly D. Robbins, Clinical Psychologist, Westlake Village & Encino, CA
Building a greater sense of self-esteem and fostering self-empowerment is paramount in navigating life transitions. As women, our lives tend to run in cycles, both biologically and developmentally.

There are circumstances that dictate who we are at any given moment:  Daughter,
wife, mother, grandmother. These developmental stages weave together to form our experience, our expertise, and our sense of self.  A better understanding of these stages allows you to bolster your determination and equips you with skills to help yourself through times of doubt and your families through times of challenge and hardship.

The roles that we play within our family and society can sometimes place immense demands and expectations on us that can challenge our confidence and cause uncertainty.

Together we can examine these challenges, no matter how big or small the transition may be, to help improve self-empowerment and regain confidence. Some of the issues particularly suited to life transitions therapy include:
  • Navigating new directions and eliminating regret for paths not taken
  • Exploring options for starting over after separation, divorce and other losses
  • Creating a new identity, both for yourself and your relationships
  • Exploring the best way to handle career conflicts and transitions
  • Establishing economic self-sufficiency
Transitions in life allow us the opportunity to rise to a challenge and become a better version of ourselves. These transitional moments are often when we learn the most about ourselves and ultimately allow us to redefine our identities, revealing a renewed sense of strength.

Life Transitions for Men

How can I get out of this mid-life crisis and feel like myself again?
Men In Transition Counseling Offered by Dr. Kimberly D. Robbins, Clinical Psychologist, Westlake Village & Encino, CA
The demands placed upon men in our society can take their toll on self-perception and self-confidence.  But the transitions that men of all ages experience throughout life, offer them the opportunity to reexamine their own identity and redefine their life’s goals.

Some of the issues particularly suited to life transitions therapy include:
  • Aging; the feeling that time is growing short for a new direction or experiences
  • Dissatisfaction with your relationships
  • Disappointment with the level of success you've attained in your profession
  • Changes in mental acuity or memory
  • Loss, either through divorce or death of a loved one
  • What it means to be a man in today’s society
Transitions in life allow us the opportunity to rise to a challenge and become a better version of ourselves. They provide the opportunity to examine feelings of dissatisfaction or doubt and move toward a place of purpose and fulfillment.
